This turned out to be a Chrome browser issue, not an actual bug -- feeds show up just fine in feed readers. Closing.

There's more here than meets the eye. Curl and in-browser RSS readers can see the feed, while Chrome, Safari Mobile, and the W3C feed validator get 406. Reopening.

OK, fixed by using improved :format mechanism in Rails 3. Will be in version 0.3.4.
